For high school students deciding to further their academic careers, choosing which school to attend can be a truly daunting and difficult task. After all, which school they decide upon will certainly have implications for the rest of their lives. At the tender age of 18, that can seem like an overwhelming responsibility. In fact, many students are pleasantly surprised at just how diverse the academic offerings can be at a religious university. Like other large colleges across the country, bible colleges offer hundreds of different degree programs, they may have competing athletic teams within the NCAA, and they offer a large array of student organizations, recreation facilities, and activities. Religion, though a large part of your life, is only a small part of your entire educational experience.
Once You Decide that you want to attend a bible college, you need to choose which one best suits your academic and personal goals. For some, location is a big factor in this decision. Some people simply aren't ready to live very far away from home. Cost is also a large consideration. Though, it should be noted that many bible colleges are just as affordable as their public counterparts. Financial aid is usually available too.
Before truly finalizing your decision, it is a good idea to actually go to the campus of your chosen bible college and get an up close and personal look at what life is like there. You will be able to talk to other students, academic and financial counselors, and see more than what the pretty pictures in the college catalog show you.
Also, you need to think about what you want to study while in college. Does this bible college offer the type of classes and experiences you are looking for? What if you decide to change your major - will the college be accommodating to that as well? Most colleges and universities, even bible colleges, allow for flexibility.
So when should you start looking for a bible college to attend? It is recommended that you start evaluating your options during your junior year of high school. Once you have done your research, you can select several different schools to visit and apply to in the fall of your senior year. Most of the time, your acceptance or denial letter will reach you in early spring, giving you time to plan the next steps in your journey.
