I went on a date about 15 years ago that really impressed me. this is what happened.
He ordered my favorite meal from my favorite restraunt,, then picked me up (with the food) and took me to this beautiful park full of flowers and set up a table cloth on a bench. He put the food on real china and served it with a bottle of wine in wineglasses he had brought with him and lit a few candles. He turned on some soft relaxing music after dinner and we danced under the stars.
It was beautiful, very romantic and obviously meant to show me how he felt about me.
